Bio:

    Night Vine is a pure blood bat pony, as his dark coat and mane as well as his leathery wings clearly show. He grew up to inherit his family’s vineyard and estate in Pransylvania when only 19, thus allowing him to grow into a noble, yet hard working stallion. His family cultivated a special type of grape known as Twinkle Grapes, a rare and beautiful fruit that trapped small amounts of starlight inside them. The fruit however needed extreme amount of tending during the night, which worked perfectly for a family of mostly nocturnal bat ponies. After much experimentation, Night Vine invented Twinkle Grape Wine, which he earned his cutie mark from. A wonderful and intoxicating drink that had magical properties to it, imbuing its tasters with mirth and able to end any heated argument with good wishes and friendly laughter.  After tending the land and maintaining the manor for seven years, Night Vine decided to take his share of fortune and travel the world leaving his title as lord and his estate behind in Pransylvania. When he arrived in Ponyville, he found the small town to be rather cozy and quaint. Having brought a small amount of his wares from his Pransylvanian estate with him, he became renowned for the exotic beverage. To one’s expectation, he soon ran out, but the high demand forced him to purchase a small amount of land neighboring sweet apple acres to cultivate a new crop of Twinkle Grapes in Ponyville. For an entire year, nopony saw him, due to the need to care for the growing vines, thus the Apples became very suspicious of their new neighbor. The next spring, he reemerged with a stall in town center selling his magical creation; it was during this time that the Apples, namely Applejack went to confront this strange pony who was monopolizing the produce business. However something very unexpected thing occurred, she began to fall in love with the bat pony. She, who had been raised in a strict Earth Pony upbringing and mentality, had actually fallen head over hooves for the outsider. Once he had earned the trust of the rest of her family, their relationship became easier and easier as everypony else had already accepted him despite his strange appearance, accent, and customs. They were married two years after his move to Ponyville and gave birth to a baby, little ambrosia, two years after that. Night Vine joined his land with Sweet Apple Acres and the now united family helped each other with both the maintenance and harvest of the combined orchard and vineyard. He occasionally takes his daughter and wife to his original estate in Pransylvania for vacations, where he is warmly welcomed by his very large family, however they never stay long enough for it to become a “permanent holiday”

Personality:

                Night Vine, despite coming from nobility, is rather humble and down to earth. Best described as an introverted Pinkie Pie, he is very personable and friendly to others, but being the only Bat Pony in the village, he is most comfortable around his small circle of friends (Spike, Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie) and his rather large family (in laws included). He is a real stallion’s stallion and is probably the only one any pony knows who can bring out Applejack’s feminine side. He is extremely superstitious and devout to his native customs, which occasionally clash the Apple Family traditions, however, he is far more willing to bend and negotiate than his stubborn wife. In the face of true danger, he is one of the bravest souls in Equestria, more than willing to stand in the line of fire if it will defend his loved ones but is plagued by an extreme phobia of Spiders. He is the exact opposite of a morning pony, being that he has to tend the Twinkle Grape Vines most of the night, he is extremely grouchy during the early breakfasts that the Apple Family enjoy, but after a cup of coffee and the sight of his family, he typically cheers up before noon. One of his flaws is that he is an accidental flirt, sometimes causing other mares to blush with unintentional compliments or rather physical greetings customary to his native land. Applejack originally would become extremely angry whenever this occurred, but she soon learned to get used to it… only after she made him tone down the hoof kisses and greeting embraces.  He is an outstanding husband and an even better father, who actually is a bit more liberal with raising Ambrosia than Applejack is, unless a colt or stallion is involved. As he was raised around alcohol most of his life, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that he is a heavyweight when it comes to drinking, beating even Big Mac, however unless challenged or for a special occasions, Night Vine rarely drinks. He will never admit it to Applejack, but he can’t stand the taste of hard apple cider, one her favorite drinks and one she takes much pride in. He learns to “acquire” a taste for it, but his highly cultured tongue finds it harsh and in more or less words, cheap.

Cutie Mark/Special Talents:

His cutie mark is Twinkle Grape Wine inside of a champagne glass; this represents his close connection to the magical fruit as well as his ability as a vintner as well as his noble background.  Being he is a bat pony, he also has the ability to “persuade” and speak to most any species of bats, helping the Apple Family significantly with multiple infestations that occurred throughout the years. He has a wonderful singing voice, that is said to soothe even the most irate of Manticores and has an arsenal of enchanting ballads and lullabies at his disposal. And when he has alone time with Applejack, he is one of the most romantic ponies, which she appreciates very, very, much :3
